HEAT and COOL

These are the three important reasons this site is different. By studying HOW any of us are thinking when we are successful, the following became crystal clear...

1: It really isn't our fault that we think the way we do, or that parts of our lives are less than perfect.

We learned how to think by watching the people around us and what they "did," we "do." Take relationships for example. We learned about relationships primarily from our parents and over 50% of their marriages ended in divorce. Of the remaining who didn’t divorce, many were obviously not happy in their marriages. So those are our skills and our baseline.

The real problem is that we were not taught HOW TO THINK through the processes in the areas of our lives that cause us porblems in ways that could be successful and, at the same time, avoid the problems and negative emotions that cause us so much pain, distress, and illness.

2. You are the only one who can change HOW YOU THINK.

It takes desire and practice, but it isn’t really difficult. It’s your life and your “stuff,” and processing it a little differently will yield results significantly more to your liking. The tools and techniques are easily learned and applied.

3. You already know what you need to know to make better choices.

We have been taught how to "DO" most of the things in our lives correctly but we do them by habit. We aren't even aware of how much successful thinking we already do.

Driving to work is a good example of how we do something successfully by habit. Every day we make a huge number of choices correctly as we are driving to work, but we arrive at work most days not having thought about our driving at all.

Looking at how we do the successful things in our lives and taking them apart to look at the thinking processes that makes them work, shows us they all work the same way.

It would appear logical then to apply the same thinking techniques we use in the successful parts of our lives to those areas we want to make better.

10 things all our successes have in common!

These are the ten thinking processes that our successful choices and actions share. I refer to them as the "C.O.O.L." techniques. "COOL" stands for "Consciously Objective Optimum Living." When we are successful we apply one or more of the COOL techniques to the information we are processing. We

1. choose what to think about.
2. base our decisions on verifiable facts
3. monitor our thoughts
4. control our negative emotions
5. choose our response.
6. keep our problems in perspective
7. use our energy to find solutions
8. almost always plan our future
9. able to respond to opportunity
10. enjoy our success

Please look at THE TEN C.O.O.L. PROCESSES and identify the ones that got you here.

At the absolute minimum you:

1. Chose what you wanted to think about. You used the internet and probably a search engine to find this site.
2. You controlled your negative emotions. What ever is bothering you is currently "on hold" while you are seeking a solution.
3. You are using your energy to find a solution, not just allowing it to empower a problem.
4. You are willing to consider a different future. You are open to change.

Out of the ten, these four successful thinking techniques are probably the most important and you already have them.

Mental Mechanics not only enhances our use of the C.O.O.L. processes, it helps us eliminate the negative habits that eventually sneak back in and sabotage our efforts to change. Now you know why 96% of people can't make the Secret work.

It also teaches us simple techniques for applying the C.O.O.L. side techniques in all the other areas of our lives. Whenever we find negative emotions threatening to take control, we can learn to turn down the H.E.A.T. by CHOOSING to be C.O.O.L.

PS: I know the use of acronyms or acrostics such as H.E.A.T. and C.O.O.L. is a bit hokey, but the most important thing is to get the message across in terms, stories, and metaphors that can be easily understood, remembered and applied.
